Case study - Accountants

KCS were asked to assist a firm of accountants that were experiencing slow system speed when using Sage and IRIS. The firm has three partners and thirty two staff and used a mixture of Sage and IRIS as their primary accountancy applications. Over time the network had grown, and both applications were running significantly slower after recent upgrades. KCS were asked to assist.

KCS identified that the recent upgrades to these programmes required more resources than the system was able to provide and therefore arranged for the memory to be upgraded on the practice server. As a result both programs are now significantly quicker.

In addition KCS were asked to arrange for remote access for the team so that in the event of bad weather, such as the snow problems experienced in recent years, staff could keep working from home. A secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) was implemented allowing staff to work from home securely whilst accessing all office resources including Sage and IRIS. This proved successful, allowing more flexible work as well as ensuring that a contingency plan was in place in the event of bad weather or a disaster.
