KCS were asked to assist an estate agency with three branches in setting up a fourth branch.
Previous problems with the system had included slow speed for accessing the estate agency database when working from one of the branch sites as well as managing the challenges that weekend workers present when jumping from one computer to the other.
KCS implemented a VPN (Virtual Private Network) system which creates a secure and encrypted ‘tunnel’ between the sites enabling the sites to be linked together as one. This allowed network traffic to move securely and quickly between the branch sites and the main site, allowing fast access to the agency database.
As weekend staff had a requirement to log on to any PC on any desk, but with a restriction so they could only access a limited profile, roaming profiles were configured on all computers allowing weekend staff to log on securely and to find that they had the right emails following them from one computer to the other.
One of the key issues in estate agency is ensuring that weekend staff can log on without problem and thus avoid out of hours IT support call-outs. The roaming profile configuration resolved this issue.
KCS also negotiated with the estate agency’s broadband provider that additional broadband bandwidth was provided at no extra charge so that the connection would be quick between sites.
