Case study - Healthcare
KCS were asked to assist a healthcare organisation with a main office and five branch sites in the support and streamlining of their IT.
The organisation had grown over time and there was no overall IT strategy to enable the organisation to benefit from the savings provided by cloud computing, and over time parts of the system were becoming slow.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) requires that data security and data protection is regularly reviewed, given the sensitive personal information held on the computer system about clients.
KCS undertook a root and branch review of the IT strategy and determined that a cloud computing model was best suited. The organisation was moved across to a cloud platform, with contingency plans in place to ensure that no site could be impacted by lack of broadband connectivity.
All staff were provided with secure One Time Passwords (OTP) – similar to that used to log-in to a bank account - where the last part of the password is a number on a digital key ring which changes every thirty seconds, meaning that the passwords are very secure - meeting the requirements of the Data Protection Act. The organisation now works entirely through the internet, without the cost of having servers at their office.
KCS work for many healthcare organisations and would be pleased to provide references to firms of a similar size for your consideration.
